Thanks to Jonathan Hayden for writing a great article about the film and the journey for the Omaha World Herald.  He mentions our experience with the Somalian meatpackers from Grand Island, Nebraska who we met with that were fired during the month of Ramadan for seeking prayer time.  There experience brought up the question ‘what does it mean to be American?‘.  Do we live in a country of openness, religious freedom, inclusiveness and pluralism, or do we live in a country in which new immigrants must assimilate into the Plymouth Rock model that has been oh so prevalent in this nations history?

For those of you who forgot, the film launches this Saturday, July 4th, at 9pm at the Washington DC Convention Center for the ISNA film festival. The film will be followed by a panel discussion with Ambassador Akbar Ahmed, Ingrid Mattson, Imam Magid, and Senior Rabbi Bruce Lustig.

I’m doing my best to get as many VIP passes as possible.  If it can’t work out, be sure to get in touch with me so we can watch the film together.  All my best.
